06 Jan 2012 - powder again

Skied the same Otari trees today. Mick and I were the only ones there - good powder, good weather, good stability. Good skiing. Withe the range observations I could make from my position I didn't see any evidence of avalanche activity after the last few days of storm conditions. I found some upside down snow, however it was not everywhere I looked. The low density layer was typically down about 50-70cm and in my area did not appear to be much cause for concern on terrain up to 35 degrees below treeline on NE aspects. Overall you could feel some variable density layering whilst breaking trail.

Today's picture shows the gun barrel possibly loaded and the top section of banana slowly ripening, though still not ready.
