26 Dec 2011 - too much snow

Another weather map image showing the classic pattern in place right now. No photo - nothing to take a photo of. With over well 100cm of new unconsolidated snow in the backcountry I did't go touring due to the effort required v.s the likely return and probable risk on slopes steep enough to generate good speed. For clarification: backcountry is where you hike, not somewhere near resort that you ski using lifts. Expecting the same for tomorrow. It is good to get a solid storm to squash some more vegetation, however I'll be happy to see this one pass so that we can start with some solid touring again.
