29 Dec 2011 - creamy trees

Today we hiked a few km's into a remote area for some early season lower altitude tree skiing in creamy-good fast soft snow between 900m and 1400m on N and NW aspects. Really good fun and the best day so far this season. It was a slow relaxed day without much rushing for more. My skis impressed me once again with their outrageous ability to turn so fast in and around trees and small terrain textures. They are precise and serious, yet you can turn them with your mind. Good stability where we were (which will remain a well kept secret). No wind effected snow. A bit scrubby in places with our low early season pack (180cm deep at 1200m on N aspect today).

A storm rolled in by afternoon that has started out warm and a bit windy. hmmm.
