It stopped snowing before midday today with high winds aloft and patches of sky coming through. Looks like another small storm will start in 24 hours. Opening the front door was a bit of an effort this morning.

Not even close. But I have one of those unhygienic seat covers for the first time in my life.
The riding: for me, frustrated by the fact that its too new and deep to safely ride (or tour) anything steeper than 30 degrees and too deep to even attempt riding anything less steep. It will get better over the week.

Thanks for that excellent edit. Good use of the toryu tank.
All the snow is avalanching off my roof right now as the sun hits it. The slides make a noise and the floor vibrates a bit - gets the dog all excitedt.

The avatar is doing well; it is actually a bit scary how well she is, considering she is 17 years old. I'm wondering if she ate some krypton or got bit by a radioactive spider or something.

That's a nice funky-looking cottage you've got there!
We probably got less snow in Yuzawa from the last storm, compared to Hakuba. Still, enough to make me think twice about hitting the bigger lines out there. That can wait till tomorrow.
I think after we get another meter or so we'll start bottom-hiking up some of the local mountains here.

I am happy that she has managed such an unnaturally long life. 17 is quite scary.

I like bottom hiking, but around here top to bottom is a very big day, too long for a mid winter day. There are other non-resort terrain that gives good 1000m vert top to bottom toures. Good terrain and easy to access. We likewise need a bit more snow to make them great.

Ahh.... snow in japan
That pic brings back memories of freezing my ass off in wooden cold-weather japanese ins. Hope that place has a toilet heater!
The snuff looks amazing. How has riding been?
Toilet heater?

Glad to see your on-line and snowed under; but I had expected to see a more detailed analysis of the lines:

Creeks are more filled than last week, but below 1500 I bet they are still a challenge.
Haven't made it up to Norikura yet due to constant snow and high avalance risk in the alpine.
