Field Observations:
Great spring touring weather yesterday in Hakuba's backcountry, but poor ski quality unless you hit the perfect altitude/aspect/time combo. 80kph winds at 2400m ruined the fun up high. And to get good corn below you needed to be out early.
Overnight temperatures at 2080m peaked at an amazing +7.8C, 200m higher than Happo’s top lift. Quite incredible. Back down to +3C this morning, rain and fog in the valley.
The extreme terrain on the north face of Hakuba Norikura Dake yesterday. It can be accesses in under 3 hours from the Tsugaike gondola.
