Jan 10 - fifty c's
Pretty deep today. 6cm overnight at the house in town, 50cm and fluffy just down valley a bit at _______. We didn't go above 1200m and found stable snow, only small loose snow avalanches on steep terrain. Also zero wind effect overnight and not a breath during the day, cold temps, good face shots and at times deep trail breaking in the deeper 60cm areas. All day our skin track was pretty much knee deep. A reliable crossing of a certain river is no longer in place so it was a bit of a chore finding an alternate in this somewhat low snow year. Eventually we found a snow bridge that worked and were on our way. Lots of very good powder to be skied, but you need a car and you need skins and a map.
That's all we have for today. Want more?
