The weather over the 24 hours to 7am today had more constant overcast skies and light snow above 1500m.  Field observations show reasonably calm winds (little snow transport at 1900m).  The rising barometer (922mbar) could well be the prelude to the rapid temperature rise forecast for Saturday afternoon.
