Tenki Diary 26 Dec 07

7am Wednesday morning, weather for the last 24 hours: light winds and relatively cold, no new snow for the first time in 10 days. Clear overnight with very small surface hoar starting to form at 860m

A warming trend is forecast for the remainder of the week culminating in possible rain to 1800m, then rapid cooling to –12C at the same time as perhaps 50-100cm of snow fall with 50kph winds. All by this weekend. Such a combination is not good for avalanche conditions, to say the least.

There will be no weather data published for Thursday morning as I am hiking up and camping at Tengubara (2200m, near Norikura). Making the most of the sunny conditions before they deteriorate this weekend.
