Tenki Diary 9 Jan 08
Weather data fo the 24 hours to 7am today: more warm weather, yesterday brought 20cm of new snow at 1800m, overnight is only just below freezing. The best snow (and terrain, of course) is above 2000m. It is breezy in the valley this morning, sunshine windy on the peaks with 20cm of new snow to create windslab on a lot of smooth surfaces.
The forecast has been erratic from day to day, with hot spikes to 3000m that drop out of the picture in teh next model run. For the last day the forecast has remained more reliable: 30-50cm of new warm snow on Friday night, rain in the valley, then a fast plunge in temperatures with freezing level at sea level and -20C at 2000m. Time to get some goose down on.
This afternoon I will drag my new sled with my winter supplies up to the 1900m level and stow my cache there.
