3.2% Water

3 Feb 08

Reasonably clear weather was forecast for Hakuba, good for mountaineering and backcountry, good for exploring, good for altitude camping. For better or worse, the clear weather never appeared.  In its place we got 40+cm of 3.2% water content blower Hakuba powder on top of 40cm of supportive pow base.

For a brief moment in recent days some blue sky appeared out of the persistent gloom.

But not for long.

Light and deep in an easy to access, easy to ride and easy to exit low altitude tree hill in Hakuba.  My brother enjoys a Dupraz snowboard.  23 shots in a few sequences.

Hey Damian ... Looks like you brother is having a good time in Hakuba. He looks like he rides really well! Anyway, I am back from 10 days away for work. Singapore, Edinburgh, London, Paris and Milan ... Got to see my sister in London so it was all A.Ok.

Hope to see you up in Hakuba again soon

Welcome back to Japan, NPM :)

Hey Damain, Is this my camera, or Luke's? Looks goooood!

Heard that there was an avlanche in Tsugaike today (on piste).

Yes, its yours.  It was very good but unsafe by midday.  The avalanche at Tsugaike is briefly written up in the Avalanche book, Incidents section.
